'space jamo'에서 만든 홍명섭의 < shadowless_artless_mindless> 전시회 도록. 이 도록은 작가의 ‘미학적 결정론의 통제를 해체하는 미완의 작업들, 현재만을 살려내는 작업들’을 담았다.
작가는 도록에서 ‘내 작업에서 연대기적 순서란 의미가 없다.’라고 말한다. 새로운 작업과 옛 작업이라는 구분이 무색하고 불가능하기 때문이다.
작가는 자신의 작업이 일종의 불화를 촉발-촉진하기 바란다고 한다. 이때 불화는 사람들 사이가 나빠지는 감정적 대립과 적대시하는 반목이 아니라, 동일화되지 않는 이질감의 경험이면서 힘의 ‘밀림과 당김’을 뜻한다.
이렇게 작가는 우리의 사유와 지각이 달라지고 새롭게 배치되는 ‘타자적 지점’을 향해 고정된 정체성의 인식에 교란을 주어 우리가 ‘누구인지’가 문제되는 것이 아닌, 우리가 ‘어떻게 달라질 수 있는지’를 꿈꾸는 체험을 관객과 더불어 창출하고자 한다.
