YI Hyo-in is a professor in the Department of Theater & Film at Kyung Hee University and a film critic. He has served as Director of the Korean Film Archive, Executive Committee Chair for the Seoul Independent Film Festival, and Chief Director of the National Film Research Institute. He received his doctoral degree from Chung-Ang University for his dissertation A Study of North Korean Films for the Creation of the Great Leader Image, and he has published several books, including A Sociocultural History of South Korea Read Through Film.
